Volvo B18 and Volvo B20 engines

In 1961 Volvo launched the B18 engine. A powerful four-cylinder petrol engine with underlying camshaft that was the successor to the B16 engine that was installed in a 6Volt Amazon P1200, P210 and Volvo PV444 and 544. The B18 got replaced in 1969 by the B20 engine. A two-liter petrol engine that was for the most part the same as the B18 engine. The B20 delivered about 20 hp more and was delivered in various Volvo models until 1974. The models are the Volvo Amazon, 140 series, P1800 and first Volvo 240 models. The six-cylinder in-line engine B30 was put in the Volvo 164. The B stands for Petrol and the 18 for 1800 cc. The B18 is cast in the engine block. Various types of B18 engines have been on the market. B18A, B18B and B18D are de names given to them. The base is a B18 but the difference in power was made mainly by the carburetor and camshaft.
