Oil leakage between the cylinder head and the valve cover of the B18 or B20 engine is a common problem.
Often caused by over-tightening the valve cover bolts. Due to their small support surface, the bolts easily pull holes in the lid. The result is that the gasket is pressed very strongly at the location of the bolts, but the gasket between the bolts is hardly pressed. The oil then easily leaks through.
This is prevented by using these reinforcement plates.
Flat the valve cover before installation or use a new one
