The original 'old fashioned' screw type air flow sensor has been replaced by a modern electronically controlled mass air flow sensor.
The values and results are the same.
On the Volvo 200 and Volvo 700 series there is a control valve in the air filter which is controlled by a thermostat. If it is defective, warm air is sucked in and the mass airflow sensor will not work properly and will break.
