This is the famous K-camshaft , which provides greater torque in a simple way.
The car drives smoother and the engine can still be adjusted well, even when stationary.
The results are already noticeable with standard carburetor and exhaust. However, with a Weber 2-stage carburetor and sports exhaust, the result is even better.
Volvo once gave a tightening torque for the camshaft nut of 13 to 15 kgm (130 to 150 Nm). Maintaining this torque poses a high risk of breaking the camshaft during installation. A maximum torque of 8 kgm (80Nm) must not be exceeded. For added safety, Loctite should be used to secure the camshaft nut.
Using a torque wrench
