Function

This metal component is welded inside the rocker panel (sill) of the car and serves as the mounting point for the original Volvo jack.
The jack slides into the U-shaped channel, allowing the vehicle to be lifted safely.

Features

• U-shaped channel: guides and holds the jack

• Holes on the top:

  • used for spot welding

  • sometimes for water drainage

• Side flanges: used to weld the part into the rocker panel structure.

Location on the car

Under the vehicle in the rocker panel area:

• behind the front wheel

• in front of the rear wheel

The car has four jacking points in total (two on each side).

Common issue

On cars from the 700 and 900 series it is common to find:

• rust in the rocker panels

• corroded jack supports

Because of this, these parts are often cut out and replaced with new welded-in pieces during restoration.

Installation tips

• Remove all rust before installation

• Treat the inside of the rocker panel with cavity wax

• After welding, apply primer and underbody protection
